Your Perfect Nordmann Fir for Magical Christmas

Are you looking for the classic, wonderfully fragrant center piece for your home this Christmas? Then the Nordmann Fir is the perfect choice! At FloraPrima, we offer you this popular beauty in various sizes – from the compact 100-125 cm variant to the stately 150-175 cm tree. Additionally, you can find small potted Christmas trees with roots, some already lovingly decorated with lights, which are also wonderful as a gift.

The Nordmann Fir (Abies nordmanniana) is not Germany’s most popular Christmas tree for nothing. Its soft, non-prickly needles and long-lasting freshness make decorating and the entire holiday season a pure pleasure. We deliver your tree undecorated. This way, you can enjoy the traditional tree-decorating with your loved ones – an unforgettable moment every year.

Buy Christmas Tree Online: Your Path to the Perfect Holiday & Care Tips

Whether you are treating yourself or giving someone special a piece of Christmas magic: We have the best tips for you so that your tree stays fresh for a long time and is perfectly staged.

Proper Care for Your Nordmann Fir (Cut)

  1. Acclimatization: After delivery, store your tree in a cool, sheltered location – such as a garage or basement – first.

  2. Fresh Cut: Just before setting it up, saw a slice of about 2 cm thick off the base of the trunk. This allows the tree to absorb water better.

  3. Water, Water, Water: Always use a tree stand with a water reservoir. A Christmas tree "drinks" surprisingly much, especially at the beginning – up to 1 to 2 liters per day! Make sure the base of the trunk is always submerged in water.

  4. Location Choice: Do not place your tree directly next to a heater or fireplace. A cooler location significantly extends its durability.

  5. Humidity: Occasionally lightly spray the branches with water to delay needle drop and maintain the fresh scent.

Caring for a Potted Christmas Tree with Roots and Giving It a Second Life

Our small potted Christmas trees with roots are a sustainable alternative!

  1. Short Stay: Keep the tree in your warm home for a maximum of 10 days. This prevents it from sprouting and later dying outside.

  2. Caution during Transition: Slowly acclimate the tree to the warmth (and back to the cold afterwards). A cool hallway or stairwell is ideal as a "transition area" before and after the holiday.

  3. Watering: The root ball must always be kept moist, but avoid waterlogging (do not let water stand in the saucer!).

  4. After the Holiday: After the short time indoors, place the tree in a sheltered, shaded spot outside. Continue to water it as long as it is frost-free. In spring, when the ground is no longer frozen, you can plant it in your garden

Question and Answer Section

Which size is right for me?
The right size depends on your room height and the desired space in the room. Measure the height of the room and subtract about 30-50 cm for the tree stand and the tree top ornament. Our 150-175 cm fir is ideal for rooms with a standard ceiling height.

Do I have to water my cut Christmas tree?
Yes, this is very important! The tree needs water to stay fresh and avoid shedding needles. Use a tree stand with a water tank and refill the water daily.

How do I store the tree until setup?
Store the tree in its net in a cool, shaded, and sheltered location (e.g., garage or balcony). Place the trunk in a bucket of water.

Are Nordmann Firs suitable for allergy sufferers?
Due to its soft needles and subtle fragrance, the Nordmann Fir is often considered one of the more tolerable Christmas tree species. However, in case of severe allergies, a specialist doctor should always be consulted.

Can I really replant a potted Christmas tree with roots after Christmas?
Yes, if you follow the care tips! It is especially important that the tree does not stay in the warm room for too long (maximum 10 days) and that you slowly acclimate it to the cold and later to planting it outdoors in the spring.

Does the tree come with decorations?
Our large Nordmann Firs come undecorated so that you can decorate them entirely to your taste. However, we offer some of our small potted Christmas trees with roots already decorated with lights – perfect for gifting!

How long does the Nordmann Fir last?
With good care (regular water, cool location), a Nordmann Fir can stay fresh for 4 to 6 weeks. It is one of the most needle-retaining species.
